Brief Biography

     Karol Schittini, 38 years old, is a multilingual artist, born in Coronel Fabriciano/Minas Gerais, living in the city of Rio de Janeiro for 17 years.

      She graduated in Performing Arts / UFMG, graduated from the Martins Pena Theater School / RJ. She was in the Graduate Program in Afro-Amerindian Performances UNIRio in 2017, and Pós-Graduação "Arte de f(R)icção - Feminismos, Decolonialidade, Autobiografia e Performance", UERJ/ 2022.

      

      She started in theater at age 11 with director Ricardo Maia (Ipatinga/MG) and at 18 he obtained his professional registration. She has specializations in Dramatic Body Mime, dances, music, circus and audiovisual.

      With her first solo, she performed 9 international tours and received 08 awards at national festivals. The second solo was created from a 3-month artistic residency in the Iberian Peninsula with support from the Association Les Apprentis de l'Esperánce (Marseille/FR). She took part in two artistic residencies in the Iberian Peninsula, lasting 3 months each, in 2015 and 2016.

      In the theater, she acted in more than 20 productions, highlights the latest “Na Cozinha”, directed by Renato Carrera 2019, and “Berenguendém”, directed by Sidnei Cruz 2018; and in cinema he acted in 10 shorts and 2 feature films. In 2011/2012, and she was an actress-researcher at Grupo Teatral Moitará, a reference in making and staging western masks.

   Since 2000, had been offering the art-education workshop "Children's Dramatization", with specialization for people with special needs. With her clown Cor Iza, she was a hospital clown in 5 hospitals in the city of Rio de Janeiro, from 2016 to 2019 for the Doktor Klovn project.

      She is an Individual Micro-Entrepreneur in Theater Production since 2012 / Trupiniquim Produções. She was a member of Grupo Muanes Theatre Dance from 2017 to 2019. She is the co-creator and producer of Movimento Rio de Violas since 2017.

At age 11, Karol debuts in amateur theater in Minas Gerais. At 12, she acts as Julieta (Romeu&Julieta, by William Shakespeare, directed by Ricardo Maia. At 18, she moves to the capital of Minas Gerais, receives the professional registration DRT 5927, enters the Undergraduate Program in Performing Arts at the Federal University of Minas Gerais/ UFMG. In the city Belo Horizonte acted in adult and children's shows, highlighting long seasons with "A bruxinha que era Boa" by Maria Clara Machado, directed by Dirceu Alves.

   With the first authorial theatrical solo “Residência no Redemoinho”, directed by Jiddu Saldanha, inspired by the Brazilian literature of Sertão, with excerpts by João Guimarães Rosa, she received 8 awards at national festivals, toured 06 Brazilian states and toured 05 countries in the South America and Europe.
  Since 1997 she has been studying Physical Theater and Body Mimicry, having been part of the Moitará Theater Group 2011-2012 in the Research Center "The Mask in the Energy of the Actor". she studied with Denise Stoklos, Maurice Durozier (Theatre du Soleil) and Balinese Masks with Fabianna Mello Souza.
  Participated in artistic residencies from Oct-Dec/2016: Oriental Dances in Toulouse/FR with Clara Misrai/ creation and editing at Cirque des Contraires Paris/FR, and creation and editing at the Festival de Dança de Marseille/FR.  From Jun-Oct/2015 he participated in artistic residencies in Physical Theater in Paris/FR with companies such as MimeHippocampe and Platform88, and in creation and editing in FAFE/Portugal with Moncho Rodrigues. On both occasions he offered workshops and gave public presentations.
  Since 2008, she has acted in 9 fiction short films (one of them in Porto/PT), 1 documentary and 2 video clips. she acted in the 2012 SONHOS DE COR IZA Micro-Series.
  In 2010, she made his first international tour in Portugal as a tambourine player for singer Luciane Menezes/ for MinC Intercâmbio de Difusão Cultural.
  Participated in the Intensive Course (40h) in International Cultural Management with Natalie Rondant CCBB-RJ 2013.
  In 2012 he opened MEI – Trupiniquim Produções Artísticas e Culturais with which she carried out (production and performance) more than 20 projects in 7 Brazilian states, among which they received 14 awards at festivals in different categories. As MEI, she was invited by manager Nádia Medella, from Centro Cultural Municipal Laurinda Santos Lobo/ RJ to curate and produce children's programming for the 2nd / 2013. She was a judge at the I Festival de Esquetes NET Rio in the city of Volta Redonda/RJ in 2012.
   She is part of the Parley Environmental Racism Course for The Oceans Brasil, and participated in the Plastic-Free Week 27-07/31/2020.
